November to March is the best time for a room with its own sauna.
The lake falls quiet
Fewer people on the shore, more room by the stove. When the lake freezes over, it becomes an ice rink.
Skiing in 15 minutes
Spitzingsee and Sudelfeld are 15 to 20 minutes away. The ski bus to Spitzingsee is free with the guest card.
Sledging, cross-country, winter trails
Sledging at the Obere Firstalm, cross-country skiing in Bayrischzell, winter and snowshoe walks from the front door.
Sauna first, then supper
Your own sauna first, then crackling roast pork in the Xaver. The kitchen serves until 9 pm.
First Advent on the square
On the first weekend of Advent the Christmas market is right outside the door, on Xaver-Terofal-Platz.
Even for one night
Outside the high season, single nights are possible on request.
Downstairs is the inn.
The Xaver is restaurant, bar and beer garden in one. Head chef Tobias Krüger cooks Bavarian food, led by the seasons.
Char and trout come from the Fischerei Schliersee, and the daily menu changes almost every day. You eat in the Stuben, on the terrace or in the beer garden.

An inn for more than 500 years
In 1891 the actor Xaver Terofal buys the house. In 1892 he founds the first Bavarian farmers’ theatre next door. In 1895 his company plays the Metropolitan Opera in New York.

“We took over the Terofal in 2024 and renewed it under heritage protection. Downstairs it stays an inn. Upstairs you should sleep so well that you come back.”
