Through the arch into the hall: tables, gallery and the Bauerntheater stage

Celebrations and meetings

Celebrate at the Terofal

Company party, birthday, anniversary or concert: in the historic hall of the Bauerntheater for 250 guests at tables, or in a Stube from 25.

Room that no one else has.

Why large celebrations on the Schliersee are difficult, and why they are not here.

250guests dining

400guests with cinema seating

430guests for concerts with the gallery

1892built by Emanuel von Seidl

Plan a large celebration on the Schliersee and you soon hit a limit. Other venues in the village take around 150 guests, and then it gets tight. Here, 250 guests sit down to dinner, and with cinema seating it is 400. That makes the hall the largest event space on the lake.

It is the hall of the Schlierseer Bauerntheater, the village peasant theatre, right next to the hotel. It was built in 1892 to designs by the Munich architect Emanuel von Seidl, the same year Xaver Terofal and Konrad Dreher founded the very first Bavarian Bauerntheater. The building belongs to the municipality of Schliersee, and the Terofal holds the sole catering right, entered in the land register. So this is no multi-purpose room, but a theatre hall of 250 square metres with a gallery and a stage.

What we like to host most are company and family celebrations. A Christmas party for the whole workforce, a milestone birthday, a company anniversary: all of it takes place in a room your guests will remember. The seating follows the occasion, with radial tables for 100 or 150 guests, one long banquet table, or up to 250 seats at tables.

Concerts and cabaret suit the hall too. There is a professional lighting and sound system, we provide a large screen on request, and you can book a technician. With the gallery, concerts can take up to 430 guests.

The food comes from our own kitchen and the service from our own staff. There are eleven suggested menus, from hearty Alpine to refined, plus vegetarian and seasonal versions, and in the end we agree everything with you. For music, photos, flowers and the journey home we put you in touch with people we know.

The hall is mostly free at weekends; the Bauerntheater performances usually take place on Tuesdays. For the hall there is a €500 hire fee and a €150 cleaning fee, both paid to the municipality. Write to us with your date, a rough number of guests and the occasion, and we will come back to you with a proposal.

Frequently asked questions.

How many guests does the hall hold?

Up to 250 guests for a seated dinner, 400 with cinema seating and up to 430 for concerts with the gallery. That makes it the largest event space on the Schliersee. Other venues in the village take around 150 guests. The hall works best from about 80 people; for smaller parties there are the Stuben.

We are 30 people. Is there a smaller room?

Yes. The Kaminstube and the Jägerstube each seat 30 guests, the Alte Stube 35 and the Theaterstüberl 25. The Xaver Bar with the Theaterstüberl takes 50, and in fine weather the terrace has 80 seats. Kitchen and service are the same as for large celebrations.

When is the hall available?

Mostly at weekends. The Bauerntheater performances usually take place on Tuesdays. Exceptions are traditional costume festivals and village fêtes. Ask us with your preferred date and we will quickly tell you whether it works.

What does it cost to use the hall?

There is a flat hire fee of €500 and a cleaning fee of €150. Both go to the municipality of Schliersee, which owns the building. Food, drinks and service come on top and depend on your event. We are happy to send you a quote.

Which menus do you offer?

We have eleven suggested menus, from hearty Alpine to refined, plus vegetarian and seasonal versions and canapés for the aperitif. They are suggestions, not a fixed package: we agree the final menu with you.

Can I bring my own caterer?

No. In the Bauerntheater the Terofal holds the sole catering right, entered in the land register, so food and drinks always come from our kitchen. For decoration you are welcome to bring in outside suppliers by arrangement.

What technical equipment does the hall have?

Professional lighting and sound and a stage of about 50 square metres. We provide a large screen on request, and you can book a technician as well.

Can you help with music, photos and transport?

Yes. We know bands, musicians and DJs, photographers, florists and wedding planners, and we arrange taxis or a coach to take your guests home.

Can my guests stay overnight?

Yes. There are six room categories in the hotel and four holiday apartments right on the lake. Let us know when you book and we will hold rooms for you.

Who will I be dealing with?

Ute Leitner and Lisa Werner look after events. They plan the day with you and are there in person on the day itself. So you are dealing with the house, not with an agency.

Do I have to pay a deposit?

Usually not. Depending on the type and size of the event there may be exceptions, and we will raise that beforehand. Cancellations must be made in writing; the fees depend on how short the notice is.

Is the hall suitable for a seminar or conference?

There is a better room for that. The theatre hall is built for performances and large banquets. For seminars, workshops and conferences we use the bright function room in the Schlierseer Heimatmuseum, 150 square metres for up to 99 people, a few minutes on foot from the hotel. Tell us what you have in mind and we will suggest the right room.
