The Seeheimat from above: four apartments on the shore, the church and autumn trees behind

Four apartments. One shore.

How the Seeheimat differs from the hotel.

And who it suits better.

The Seeheimat, which means "home by the lake", stands at Seestraße 14, less than two hundred metres from the hotel. What matters is not the distance but the setting: the grounds run down to the water. Step out of the door in the morning and you are at the lake, not on a road looking at it.

There are four apartments, between forty-two and ninety square metres. Each has a fully equipped kitchen, a gas fireplace with remote control, its own marked parking space and free Wi-Fi. Hand, shower and bath towels are ready for you, as are bathrobes. We do not charge a final cleaning fee; the only extra is the local tourist tax.

Stand-up paddleboards and two small kayaks are free for Seeheimat guests. Lake Schliersee is ideal for it: since the lake was aerated in 1982 there have been no algal blooms and no fish deaths, motorboats are not allowed, and in summer the water reaches up to 23 °C. The 7.4-kilometre path around the lake starts practically at the door.

A holiday apartment comes into its own when you stay longer. If you are here for a week or two, you will not want to eat out every night, and with your own kitchen you do not have to. If you do, the Xaver Restaurant at the hotel is less than five minutes’ walk away, and you can add the breakfast buffet there as well.

One point we would rather say plainly than hide in the small print: the apartments are not suitable for crawling children up to about six years old. The lake access on the grounds is not fenced and gets deep quickly, and the layout and furnishings are not designed for small children either. If you are travelling with little ones, you will be better looked after at the hotel.

The cancellation terms also differ from the hotel, in your favour: you can cancel free of charge up to sixty days before arrival. Check-in is from 3:30 pm, check-out by 10 am.

Frequently asked.

Is the Seeheimat really right on the lake?

Yes. The Seeheimat is at Seestraße 14, and its grounds run down to the water. The Hotel Terofal, by contrast, is in the village centre, not on the shore; the two are less than two hundred metres apart on foot. If you want to be by the water, the holiday apartments are the right choice.

Are the apartments suitable for small children?

No, and we say so clearly. The apartments are not suitable for crawling children up to about six years old. The lake access on the grounds is not fenced and gets deep quickly, and the layout and furnishings are not designed for small children either. With little ones, we recommend the hotel.

What does final cleaning cost?

Nothing. We do not charge a final cleaning fee in any of the four apartments. The only extra on top of the nightly rate is the local tourist tax. Hand towels, shower towels, bath towels and bathrobes are ready for you; you do not need to bring anything.

Can I go stand-up paddleboarding or kayaking?

Yes, at no extra cost. Stand-up paddleboards and two small kayaks are free for Seeheimat guests and kept on the grounds. Private motorboats are not allowed on Lake Schliersee, and in high summer the water reaches up to 23 °C.

Until when can I cancel free of charge?

Up to sixty days before arrival, free of charge. Between thirty and fifty-nine days, fifty per cent is due; from thirty days before arrival, one hundred per cent. These deadlines are much longer than at the hotel, where you can cancel free of charge up to seven days before. We do not ask for a deposit; your credit card serves as a guarantee. We accept Visa and Mastercard.

When can I check in?

From 3:30 pm; key handover runs until 9 pm. Check-out is by 10 am, an hour earlier than at the hotel. If you will arrive later, please let us know in advance and we will find a way.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, in three of the four apartments, for €25 a night. Only one dog is allowed on the grounds at a time, especially in the swimming season. So please mention your dog when you enquire, and we will tell you which apartment fits.

Can I have breakfast at the hotel while staying in an apartment?

Yes, very welcome. The breakfast buffet at the hotel costs €25 per person; children up to six eat free, and from seven to thirteen it is €15. Please let reception know by the evening before. Breakfast is served daily from 7:30 am to 10 am.

Is there parking?

Yes, every apartment has its own marked parking space on the grounds. There is no charging point for electric cars at the Seeheimat, though; that is only at the hotel.

Is there a sauna at the Seeheimat?

Yes, a small sauna house right by the lake that all Seeheimat guests can use. From the sauna it is a few steps to the water.

What is the minimum stay?

Seven nights in high season, five in mid season and four in low season. Shorter stays do not work for a holiday apartment, because each one is cleaned thoroughly after every departure and we do not charge extra for it.

Is the Seeheimat accessible?

No. All the apartments have stairs, so we cannot recommend them for guests using a wheelchair or with limited mobility. At the hotel, a lift runs up to the top floor, where almost all rooms are step-free.
