Xaver Bar with blue velvet chairs, round wooden tables, a long bench and a glass display cabinet

Xaver Bar

Cocktails, wine and proper espresso-machine coffee. The bar does not close with the kitchen, but out of consideration for our hotel guests we aim to close by midnight.

The part after dinner.

3distilleries close by: Slyrs, Hoermann and Lantenhammer

50seats in the bar and Theaterstüberl, a room of its own for small parties

9 pmthe kitchen closes. The bar stays open later, until around midnight.

The Xaver Bar belongs to the restaurant and yet is a place of its own. It is the room you move to when the plates have gone and the evening should not be over yet. And it is the reason you do not have to head out again for a drink when you stay at the Terofal.

The menu has cocktails, both classics and our own creations, plus long drinks and a selection of wines. For spirits we look to the region, and here that is more than a phrase: Slyrs whisky is distilled in Schliersee, Destillerie Hoermann is based here too, and Lantenhammer is in neighbouring Hausham. If you want to get to know Bavarian spirits, you are at the right bar.

You can eat at the bar from the full menu as usual while the kitchen is open, until 9 pm. Finger food, sometimes Bavarian, sometimes Mediterranean, is available if you order it in advance. After that the bar stays open, long after the restaurant has been cleared.

During the day the bar is above all one thing: the best coffee in the house. It comes from a proper espresso machine, with beans from the Rafaels coffee roastery in Hausham. After a hike, before dinner or simply in between.

Where to sit, and when.

Five areas, one house. What suits which evening, and what does not.

In the beer garden, under the chestnut tree

Shade all afternoon, right on Xaver-Terofal-Platz by the maypole. You sit in the middle of the village and watch the world go by. For a hot July afternoon with a Brotzeit, this is the spot. In bad weather it stays closed.

On the terrace, in the sun

The terrace is sunny and faces the mountains. The full menu is served here, as everywhere in the house. If you come to eat and want to sit outside, this is the place.

In the Stuben, when it turns cold

Warm wood, low ceilings, a house more than five hundred years old, and you can tell. From October to April this is the room where you stay on long after the plates have gone.

In the Jägerstube, with your dog

Dogs are welcome in the Stuben and in the beer garden. In the Jägerstube you can also have breakfast with your dog, served at the table rather than at the buffet.

At the bar, when it gets late

The kitchen closes at 9 pm, the bar does not. It stays open longer, until around midnight out of consideration for our hotel guests. In the village that is not a given: if you want a drink after ten, there is little choice.

And where not with us

You will not sit right on the water here. The square is four minutes’ walk from the shore; the house stands in the village centre, not on the lakeside road. If you really want to sit with your feet almost in the lake, one of the places on the shore will suit you better. If you want the village, you are in the right place.

A cocktail being poured into a glass

Three distilleries close by.

Slyrs and Hoermann distil in Schliersee itself, Lantenhammer in the next village. For a hotel bar, that is a real difference, not a slogan.

Frequently asked questions.

How late is the bar open?

It opens with the restaurant: Tuesday to Thursday from 5 pm, Friday to Sunday and public holidays from 11:30 am. The bar does not close with the kitchen, but out of consideration for our hotel guests we aim to close by midnight. The terrace closes at 10 pm. We are closed on Mondays.

Can I eat at the bar?

Yes. While the kitchen is open, until 9 pm, you can eat at the bar from the full menu as usual. Finger food, sometimes Bavarian, sometimes Mediterranean, is available if you order it in advance.

Which spirits do you stock?

Alongside the usual classics, mostly local ones: Lantenhammer from Hausham, Slyrs whisky from Schliersee and Destillerie Hoermann, also from Schliersee. Then there are cocktails, both classics and our own creations, long drinks and a selection of wines.

Where can I still get a drink at Schliersee in the evening?

The kitchen at the Terofal closes at 9 pm, the Xaver Bar does not: it stays open longer, until around midnight out of consideration for our hotel guests. In the village that is not a given, as most places close with their kitchen. On the days the restaurant is closed, so is the bar.

Is there a cocktail bar at Schliersee?

The Xaver Bar at the Terofal serves cocktails, both classics and our own creations, plus long drinks, wine and espresso-machine coffee. The spirits lean local: Slyrs and Destillerie Hoermann distil in Schliersee itself, Lantenhammer in neighbouring Hausham.

Do I need to book for the bar?

Not for a drink at the bar. If you are coming as a group or want to eat as well, it is better to book a table, especially at weekends.
