The Standard is the room we recommend most often when someone calls and is not sure what to book. Twenty-five square metres is the point at which a hotel room stops being just a bed and a bathroom. Two suitcases can stay open without anyone climbing over them.

Behind the bed is a wall of reclaimed timber. It is not decoration added afterwards but part of the 2025 renovation, when the listed building was restored from the ground up. Add warm light, muted colours and nothing that makes a room feel busy.

The window faces the mountain side, up to the Weinbergkapelle, the small chapel above the village. There is no lake view in this category, and we would rather say so clearly than have it disappoint you on arrival. If you want to see the lake from your room, you need at least a Standard Plus.

In return these are the quietest rooms in the house. They face away from the street, and in the evening you hear little more than you would expect in a house that is 500 years old. For light sleepers that is a real argument.

The Standard works for a stay of any length. It has no balcony, but the restaurant terrace is open to all hotel guests, and on a fine day the beer garden in front of the house is a better spot for a coffee than any balcony.

Three rooms belong to this category: 104, 204 and, on the third floor, 303. Room 303 sits under the roof, and its sloping ceilings give it more character than the two below. Tell us when you book if you have a preference and we will hold the right room for you.

Every room drawn individually.

There are 3 rooms in this category. Because the building is more than 500 years old, no two are alike, so we have drawn each one individually.

Questions about the Standard Room.

How is it different from the Eco room?

Seven square metres. The Standard has twenty-five instead of eighteen, plus the reclaimed timber wall behind the bed. View and amenities are the same, both face the mountain side. The extra €30 buys you space and nothing else.

Is the room big enough for a longer stay?

Yes. Twenty-five square metres is the point at which two suitcases can stay open without anyone climbing over them. For two people for a week, that is comfortable. If you would also like a balcony, choose the Standard Plus.

How quiet is the room?

The Standard rooms face away from the street, on the mountain side, and are among the quietest in the house. The building is more than five hundred years old, so the odd creak comes with it. For light sleepers, this is the right side of the house.
